The first week of the 2017 Virginia Youth Trapshooting League is complete, with 60 youth participating throughout the state. The Week 1 turnout was 10% more than we saw in 2016 and we expect it to grow from here.
This year’s clubs/teams include Alexandria IWLA (Stafford Clay Shooters), Blue Eagles, IWLA Arlington-Fairfax, IWLA- Lynchburg (Flight Control), Northern Virginia Gun Club, Stonewall, and Winchester Gun Club (Frederick County 4-H and Clarke County 4-H).
Overall High Gun was Jacob Griffin (Frederick County 4-H) 49, while Hunter Shoemaker (Frederick County 4-H) and Eric Swahn (IWLA Arlington-Fairfax) tied with 48s. Since each shot the same scores (25-23), we’ll carryover until next week and decide the runner up/high junior in Week 2.
The Week 1 High Guns in each category are as follows:
Junior Gold: Joseph Parker (NVGC) 29
Junior: Hunter Shoemaker OR Eric Swahn 48, Justin Ledbetter (IWLA – Lynchburg) 46
Sub-Junior: Ashton Pitcock (Frederick County 4-H) 47, Dalton Krossman (Frederick County 4-H) and Jordon Stevens (NVGC) 44.
Pre-Sub Junior: Andrew Marsh 42 (IWLA Lynchburg), Louis Marangoni, (Stafford Clay Shooters) 42.
