When
The VYTL season begins on approximately April 1 each year and ends in late May, concluding with a state championship event. The 2017 state championship will be held June 11th in Winchester, VA at the Winchester Gun Club. The VYTL Championship is held concurrently with the Virginia AIM Youth Championship and the VTA Hall of Fame Shoot.
How
Virginia youth shooters (age 22 and younger) visit their local trap club each week to shoot 50 ATA Registered 16 Yard targets. Their scores are sent to the league for comparison with their Virginia peers and weekly winners are then announced on the VYTL website. Both weekly and end of season prizes are awarded to the top shooters in their respective age groups.

2017 VYTL Final Results
The 2017 Virginia Youth Trapshooting League Regular Season has finished, with 75 Virginia youth participating in the weekly competitions. This was the third season for the league. Total targets thrown were 26,050 (21,350 in 2016), a 22.5% increase with a league-wide average of 71.14%.
